António Costa is Prime Minister of Portugal since 26 November 2015. Born in Lisbon in 1961, of Indian origin with roots in Goa, he is the son of writer Orlando da Costa and journalist Maria Antonia Palla. António Costa has an extensive political experience in Government, in the Portuguese and European Parliaments and as Mayor of Lisbon, city that during his term reinforced its condition as a cosmopolitan, tolerant and intercultural capital. Over two and a half decades of political activity, António Costa left relevant marks on immigration policy, on the modernization of justice and internal security systems, and administrative simplification.
